TWO CLACKMANNAN men have appeared in court this week charged with abduction, assault and robbery.

The incident took place in the late hours of Tuesday, 7 July, at Burleigh Way in Alloa.

It is believed the victim sustained serious injuries and required hospital treatment as a result.

At Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday (13 July), a 40-year-old and a 45-year-old both appeared from custody in connection with the allegations.

They are both charged with abduction, assault to severe injury and robbery and a further charge of abduction and assault to injury.

During this week’s private hearing, neither accused made any plea or declaration and will both appear again next Tuesday for a full committal hearing.

The presiding sheriff then remanded the two men in custody in the meantime.

Meanwhile, an Alva man was arrested last week following reports of a robbery in the Clacks village.

The 22-year-old was detained on Thursday evening and also appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday.

The incident is thought to have taken place at a property in West Johnstone Street shortly before midnight on Thursday, 9 July.

Police also carried out a search warrant at his property on Friday afternoon.

The accused faces two counts of assault and robbery, along with a further charge of breaching bail conditions.

During Monday’s hearing, he made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

He is likely to appear at Alloa Sheriff Court again next Tuesday for a full committal hearing.

Elsewhere, an Alloa man has been brought up on knife charges following an incident outside Klub 21 over the weekend.

The 42-year-old was detained by police after allegedly causing a disturbance outside the Mill Street nightclub in the wee hours of Sunday morning.

He appeared at court on Monday charged with behaving in a threatening and abusive manner, likely to cause fear and alarm, and with possession of a bladed instrument.

After a short hearing, where he made no plea or declaration, the accused was released on bail to re-appear at a later date.
