A MAN has appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court this week charged with attacking a man and his dog with bricks.

The 44-year-old, from Alloa, is accused of assaulting another man by repeatedly striking him with bricks, to his injury, in the town’s Rose Street on 8 April 2015.

He faces a further charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by throwing bricks at the man’s dog before engaging in a fight with him brandishing a screwdriver.

The accused appeared before Sheriff David Mackie on Monday (13 July) where he denied both charges.

His defence also intimated a special defence of self-defence in respect of the assault allegation.

A trial date has been set down for 28 July, 2015.

A TULLIBODY man has appeared in the court this week charged with racially abusing a man inside an Alloa pub earlier this year.

The 59-year-old is alleged to have uttered racist comments towards the Polish national during an altercation in the Thistle Bar on 15 March 2015.

He appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday (13 July) when he denied the charge against him.

A trial date has been set down for 27 July.

Meanwhile, his alleged victim is currently being prosecuted for assaulting the 59-year-old and a 52-year-old woman in what appears to have been a retaliatory attack outside the pub.

A CLACKMANNAN man will appear in court next month charged with endangering a teenage passenger in his car by driving twice over the limit.

The 41-year-old is alleged to have crashed his vehicle while travelling along Alloa Road, Clackmannan, on 17 January of this year.

Court papers lodged against the man accuse him of driving the car with a blood-alcohol reading of 113mcg of alcohol per 100ml of blood – well beyond the 50mcg limit.

It is further alleged that he did wilfully expose the female passenger to unnecessary danger, suffering or injury to health by driving over the limit and crashing his car.

The case against the accused was heard at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday (13 July) and was continued without plea until 10 August.

A WARRANT has been issued for a Sauchie woman charged with being intoxicated while caring for a young child.

It is alleged the 31-year-old did “wilfully expose” the three-year-old boy to unnecessary suffering in that she did have him in her care while she, nor any adult in her company, was in a fit state to care for him due to being intoxicated.

The charge also states that she did fail to exercise proper care and attention when crossing a road with him and that she did fail to ensure that he was adequately clothed for the conditions.

The case against the accused was due to call at Alloa Sheriff Court last Monday (13 July) but she failed to appear for the hearing.

Sheriff David Mackie then granted a warrant for her apprehension, following submissions from the depute fiscal.

AN ALLOA man will face trial this week charged with assaulting a man with a stick in Kennet Village.

The 40-year-old appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday (13 July) where he maintained his plea of not guilty.

He is accused of striking another man with the weapon on his head at Manson’s Garage, off the B910, on 26 October 2014.

He faces a related charge of possession an offensive weapon in public.

A trial date has been set down for 27 July.

A MAN charged with attacking a 10-year-old boy and throwing him down a hill has appeared in court this week.

The 47-year-old, from Alloa, denied the allegation when he appeared before a sheriff on Monday (13 July).

He stands accused of assaulting the youngster by seizing him by the neck, lifting his body, throwing him down a hill, kicking him on the body, kneeling on his body and uttering threats of violence to him, all to his injury.

The incident is alleged to have taken place on “an area of ground” near Ashley Terrace, Alloa, on 15 April, 2015.

The accused appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court where he maintained his plea of not guilty.

A trial date has been set down for 28 July.

AN ALLOA man has denied a charge of inciting one group of children to attack another and chase them down the street.

The 51-year-old is alleged to have behaved in a threatening and abusive manner during an incident on Dunmar Drive on 18 April, 2015.

He is accused of inciting children to strike other children and pursue those other children in the street, whilst brandishing a stick, or similar incident.

He denied the offence by letter during a hearing at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday (13 July).

A trial date has been scheduled for 3 November with an intermediate diet set down for 26 October.

AN ALLOA man has appeared in court on charges of police assault and racial abuse.

The 26-year-old appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court to answer the charges on Monday (13 July).

He previously admitted that on 23 November 2014, he did assault a male on Devon Road, Alloa, by spitting on his head and striking him on the body with his knee.

However, he denied a charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner while travelling between Devon Road and Stirling Police Office, in that he did shout, swear, adopt an aggressive attitude, utter threats of violence and repeatedly shouting racial remarks to officers transporting him.

The accused also pleaded guilty to two charges of police assault when he bit a constable on the body and kicked a sergeant while at Stirling Police Office.

A trial date has been set down for the charge of racial abuse, while sentencing on the other three matters have been deferred to await the outcome of the case.

He will re-appear at Alloa Sheriff Court on 27 July for trial.
