AN ALLOA man has been told to carry out unpaid work after pleading guilty to assaulting a nightclub bouncer.

Thomas Murphy (23) was in Klub 21 on 9 May this year when he became involved in an altercation with other patrons.

He appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday (10 August) when he admitted striking the door steward as he was being ejected.

Depute fiscal Ann Orr said: “Police officers were in attendance at Klub 21 in relation to an unrelated matter. While they were there, a door steward asked for their assistance inside the nightclub.” Ms Orr said there was an ongoing ruckus within the premises and Murphy was one of those involved.

She added: “The accused was not following directions of the door stewards while he was being ejected. He then punched the complainer, making contact with him above his eyebrow.” Murphy’s lawyer, Liam Robertson, made mention of the injuries his client sustained as a result of the incident but said he accepted responsibility for his actions.

Sheriff Gillian Wade handed Murphy, of Ashley Terrace, a community payback order with 60 hours of unpaid work to be completed over the three months.
