AN ALLOA man who called 999 to help deal with his irate girlfriend has been given unpaid work for verbally-abusing the police call handler.

Ryan Douglas, of Maple Court, lost it while on the ‘phone with the emergency services dispatch operator.

On 26 April of this year, he called police because his partner had been “causing a disturbance” outside his home at around 10.30am.

During the ‘phone call, the 23-year-old became enraged and told the call handler: “F***ing idiot...Get someone to my f***ing door now.

He then said: “Get officers out right now or I’ll go out right now and slit her f***ing throat.” The police later attended and Douglas was taken into custody.

He then appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday (10 August) and pleaded guilty to the charge.

Sheriff Gillian Wade reprimanded him for his actions towards civilian police staff.

She said: “This person was trying to go about their work and certainly don’t need people like you shouting down the ‘phone at them.

“I realised there is a background here but your behaviour was unacceptable.” Douglas was told to carry out a total of 60 hours’ unpaid work over the next three months.
