AN ALLOA man was locked up last week after admitting to two counts of sexual assault.

John Kettrick, of Lewis Court, was handed a 10-month sentence for carrying out the attack a little more than a year ago.

He appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Thursday (13 August) where he pleaded guilty to two separate sex offences.

On 15 August 2014, at his home address, Kettrick assaulted the young woman and did place his hand on top of her clothing and underwear and touch her upper body.

The 49-year-old then committed a more serious sexual assault on his victim, one which he was ultimately sent to prison for.

The case first called at Alloa Sheriff Court last month before proceedings continued in Falkirk last week.

Kettrick admitted a charge of sexual assault under s.3 of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act and to one count of sexual assault by penetration under s.2.

A not guilty plea to a further s.3 charge was accepted by the crown.

He was then handed a 10-month sentence for the more serious assault, while according to court papers he was admonished on the other charge.

It is understood he will remain subject to supervision when released next year, while his name has also been added to the sex offenders’ register.
