A TILLICOULTRY man will face trial next month for a series of alleged domestic offences dating back more than three-and-a-half years.

The case against the 31-year-old was held at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday (17 August) when his lawyer maintained his plea of not guilty to all charges.

It is alleged that on 2 December 2011 he assaulted his ex-partner attempting to seize a mobile phone from her person and elbowing her on the head, to her injury.

He is further accused of attacking her between 3-31 December 2011 by seizing her by the body and throwing her onto the bed, to her injury.

Between 1 February 2012 and 31 March 2012, he is alleged to have kicked her on the body, to her injury.

Also, between 1 March 2013 and 31 December 2013, he is accused of acting in a threatening and abusive behaviour on the M9 near Linlithgow in that he shouted, swore, uttered offensive remarks and “gesticulated”.

TWO men have appeared in court this week charged with trying to force their way into a house armed with offensive weapons.

A 23-year-old and 28-year-old, both from Stirling, appeared before Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday (17 August) charged with threatening and abusive behaviour.

The incident is said to have taken place on 21 February 2015 at a house in Bruce Street, Clackmannan.

It is alleged that the two, along with another person unknown to prosecutors, did attempt to force entry to the property by pushing on the door whilst in possession of hammers and a knife.

During Monday’s hearing, the court heard that the younger man is currently facing additional charges of carrying out a serious assault on his co-accused on a separate occasion.

His defence agent then made a motion to postpone the trial, in an effort to keep the two men from sharing a dock together.

However, the crown opposed the motion with Sheriff David Mackie agreeing “there is no clear prejudice” against the upcoming trial.

Nevertheless, the two maintained their pleas of not guilty and will appear for trial on 2 September.
