MUCKHART looked blooming beautiful at the weekend, thanks to its annual flower show.

The Coronation Hall was packed with exhibits spanning a number of categories, such as art, baking, fruit and vegetables, pot plants, flowers, photography and the children’s section, on Saturday (23 August).

Margaret Johnston, secretary of the village’s Horticultural Society which organises the show, said there was a terrific turnout on the day.

She commented, “It was our 128th flower show and the hall looked splendid with lots of colour, flowers and vegetables, beautiful paintings and clever hand crafts from the children.

“The show was opened by Brian Devlin with help from his wife, who presented the prizes.” There were a number of accolades up for grabs for children and adults alike and Neil Smith, who tends to the gardens at the University of Stirling, was a judge.

During the day there was also an afternoon tea which went down very well and thanks is given to all involved with this year’s event.

Margaret said, “It’s a well supported wee show. I’d like to thank the exhibitors who took the time to bring all their flowers etc, and that’s what makes Muckhart’s show a success every year.

“We look forward to seeing them all again next year.” Winners are reminded to collect their prizes from the Horticultural Society AGM at 7.30pm on Wednesday 24 September.
