Firefighters today (Friday 20 February) responded to a blaze in Dollar, which left a home almost completely burnt out and destroyed.

The fire service's Operations Control Maddiston received a call from a neighbour at 8.25am this morning and crews from Tillicoultry, Alloa and Stirling rushed to the fire at a property in Dollar's Strachan Terrace.

A Scottish Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson told the Advertiser: “Firefighters in breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets and two main jets to extinguish the fire.

“Unfortunately the fire has destroyed most of the property and a joint investigation between Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland will now take place to establish the cause of the fire.” The roof of the house has completely collapsed and the smoke from the fire could be seen from miles over the Hillfoots village.
