A Dollar Academy pupil got her long locks chopped for charity, raising over £2500.
Junior 2 student Fiona McCall, donated the sum and her hair to the Little Princess Trust, the charity working to aid children with cancer. Her cuttings will be made into a wig to be worn by a child who lost their own hair due to treatment and the funds raised will go to the trust.
Fiona, who has been longing for a short doo for a while, said: “My grans both passed away from cancer, so I wanted to do something to help those with the disease.” She was accompanied by her mother and a few close friends when she travelled to Glasgow to get her hair cut and styled by celebrity hairdresser Jonathan Forbes.
Family, friends and other kind sponsors contributed to a total of £2500, which will be boosted by additional tax relief money, to support the young girl’s generous gesture.
