THE Tormaukin Hotel in Glendevon, near Muckhart, is set for further expansion after a takeover by an Edinburgh company.

Tracing its origins to an early 18th century Drovers Inn, the business has been developed significantly by sellers David and Lesley Morby, who owned and operated the business since 2010. New owner Keith Shaw, of Edinburgh-based Creaky Gate Limited, plans to build the business further to capitalise on its location.

Alistair Letham, a director in UK hotels agency team at Colliers International, said: “With its central location close to many population centres and its proximity to Gleneagles, Tormaukin Hotel has for many years been an extremely popular destination.

“Over the past four or five years the business has been re-established and its popularity reinstated with a sound business and turnover and good profitability.

“The new owner intends to continue the development and promotion of Tormaukin Hotel and to further capitalise on the spin-offs of the property’s location.” Previous owners David and Lesley skilfully retained the historic charm of the old country inn with exposed stone walls, open fires and beamed ceilings. At the same time, they’ve turned it into a modern, 21st century facility.

While the purchase price was not disclosed, selling agents Colliers International confirmed that it was close to the asking price of around £825,000.

The hotel has 11 bedrooms, two lounges and two restaurants, including one in the conservatory. There are also three modern chalets, suitable for staff accommodation.
