THE village of Muckhart looked blooming beautiful on Saturday (22 August).

Exhibitors lined-up their very best for the annual flower show held in the Coronation Hall at the weekend, organised by the Muckhart & District Horticultural Society.

There was a whole host of prizes up for grabs on the day such as the McNab Cup, May Pole Memorial Cup and Bibby Cup for youngsters, along with the Hollingsworth Shield, Lady Izat Cup and Harper Cup for adults.

Now in its 129th year, the event sees entries in various categories including floral art, potted plants, fruit and vegetables, photography, jam and baking.

Secretary Margaret Johnston said it was a great day and that it is always a “happy show”.

She commented: “It was a super show and really well supported. We had a great raffle and we had a sales table outside with plants and that’s going to up our funds, because our funds are a bit low.

“We had a great turnout – the hall was full for the presentation of prizes. It was a very, very busy afternoon, people were queuing for the afternoon teas.

“The hall was very busy and there were lots of lovely exhibits. I want to thank all the exhibitors for their support and everybody that gave donations to either the raffle or sales table.” Thanks is given to the committee for all their hard work, those who attended and to Lesley McGlinchie, head teacher at Muckhart Primary School, who opened the event and presented prizes.
