IT'S not too often a man has the opportunity to marry his own son, or for a son to walk his own mother down the aisle.

However, at a far from ordinary wedding at Gean House in Alloa last week, that is exactly what happened.

Dollar couple Graeme Cochrane and new bride Andrea tied the knot on Friday in front of family and friends.

Yet the service was made all the more special with Graeme's dad, Rev Jim Cochrane, performing the ceremony himself.

Furthermore, Andrea's son Scott took the honour of escorting her down the aisle, as her dad Dougie is currently in hospital in Oban.

But he wasn't to miss out on his daughter's big day as he watched the entire event live through video link.

Graeme told the Advertiser: "My father was delighted to be asked to marry us. It's unusual for a father to marry his son and for a mum to be given away by her son. We had a great time and staff at Gean House were fantastic."

Though a seemingly unique service, it was not the first time Rev Cochrane has been able to wed his own kin, having previously performed the service for his daughter Alison and husband Colin.

And on top of that, he has also baptised three of his own grandchildren.

He said: "It's just great when you're able to do these things; there's nothing like being a part of the service like that.

"The wedding on Friday was really great; a real family affair. It was such a smashing day and everyone seemed to enjoy it."

Graeme and Andrea first met when they were studying nursing in 2006, though their careers took decidedly different turns.

Andrea works as a staff nurse at Forth Valley Royal Hospital while Graeme currently serves as a funeral director for the Cooperative Funeralcare in Alloa.

Between them, the couple have three children and a grandson.

Shortly after getting hitched, they set off for a honeymoon in South Africa.
