A SCHOOOL bus was involved in a road traffic collision on a notorious Wee County road this morning.

The A91 is still closed westwards between Tillicoultry and Dollar following the incident, which happened sometime before 8.30am.

The Advertiser understands the bus was taking pupils to Dollar Academy, when it was involved in the collision with a car, but reports suggest no children were injured.

The driver of the motor involved was taken to hospital, however.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Road policing officers in Forth Valley attended a road traffic collision on the A91 today, Thursday January 5.

"The collision involved a red Peugeot 207 car and a school bus between Dollar and Tillicoultry at around 8.30 am.

"None of the school children were injured.

"The male driver from the Peugeot was removed from his vehicle and was taken to hospital for assessment. His injuries are not thought to be serious.

"Inquiries are on-going into the full circumstances. Anyone with information is asked to contact officers on 101."

A statement from the school added: “We were very relieved to hear that no [pupil] was injured in the accident – road safety around Dollar has always a been a matter of great concern to the school.”
