PEOPLE in Callander are rallying together after a blaze took hold of a restaurant and flats last month.

Victoria Court was hit hardest by the fire and now the community has come together to fundraise for those affected.

A Just Giving page was set up after one family lost their home and so far more than £4,000 has been donated.

Locals have pledged their support on the site and have sent their well wishes to those who have been impacted.

William Holloway said: “Here is my donation for the people who have lost their belongings and their homes in the sad fire in Victoria buildings. I hopes it makes a difference and you get back home quickly.”

Even those who have little to spare have dug deep to help out as the fundraisers try to meet their target of £20,000.

Lucy Brown said: “I'm so sorry that this has happened to you all, but I'm thankful that you're safe. It's not a lot but it's all I can afford.”

Evelyn Tweed, the SNP councillor for Trossachs and Teith, has praised the community spirit that has been shown in the town.

She said: “The response from local people to these horrible events has been heartwarming to say the least. Callander folk have piled in together and shown real community spirit when others were in need.

“On behalf of the local community, I am grateful to the individuals who dedicated their time and efforts to helping others in any way they could. Callander has been a great example to lead by.”
