A MAN was killed last Thursday after a bus crashed into a cherry picker in the centre of Doune.

The collision took place on Balkerach Street at around 10.25am, with emergency services racing on the scene.

However, despite their best efforts, Michael McArthur, from Rothesay, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers have since issued an appeal for information as they try to piece together the circumstances of the incident.

It is believed the bus struck the cherry pecker, killing the 26-year-old who was stood on the platform.

The driver of the bus was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A Police Scotland spokesman said at the time: "Inquiries into the full circumstances of the collision are ongoing and the Health and Safety Executive have been notified."

Inspector Andrew Thomson of Forth Valley’s Road Policing Unit added: "Our thoughts and sympathies are with Mr McArthur’s family and we are conducting a thorough investigation to establish exactly what happened during this incident.”

Anyone with any information is urged to contact police on 101.
