A DOLLAR musician is set to take the music world by storm after capturing the interest of the country"s top record labels with the release of his first ever single.
Iain Campbell, who recently released his single 'Red, Green and Blue" under the name 'Kid Adrift", will travel to London next month for meetings with three major record labels and management, and PR companies, after his debut single was picked up by Radio 1.
The 21-year-old, who works in Glasgow, writes and composes most of his music walking in the Ochil Hills and was astounded when his first single was played on Radio 1.
He told the Advertiser, 'I have been involved with music for quite a long time and write most of my music in Dollar when I am walking in the Ochil Hills. I get ideas for different songs and then write and compose them on my laptop.
'I thought I would release the single and made a demo which I gave to a producer of the Vic Galloway show on BBC Scotland and they were really enthusiastic about it.
'Vic tipped the song to Hugh Stevens who played it a few times on his show as the 'tip of the week" and then Nick Grimshaw picked it up and played it on his Radio 1 show.
'It is completely bizzare as it has all happened in the space of four weeks, and at the end of the day I am just this unknown kid from Clackmannanshire.
'It"s all been pretty sudden and has just come from me walking about the Ochils with my laptop - I still can"t quite believe it as it"s not that common for unknown artists like myself to get on to national radio, and certainly not as quickly.'
Iain"s single has been tipped for success in 'Record of the Day", the biggest music industry newsletter and he was also invited to work on some new tracks with a sound engineer at the Abbey Road studios in London.
He went on, 'I started writing when I was quite young and I am a classically trained pianist. I ended up going down to London to study a music course and when I was down there I got to know a DJ called Kulture.
'He was pioneering a new genre of music called Dubstep and I want to mix that with influences from my piano music and other classical influences.
'What I am really trying to do is mix up a lot of different styles to create a new sound.
'I really admire the DJ Kulture and also an American artist called Son Lux because they are pioneering a new genre of music and that is what I am trying to do.'
Iain added, 'I would love it if my music career took off because I am basically doing my day job so I can write my music.
'I have played with a few bands in London and I am rehearsing a live act at the moment with a view to doing gigs at the end of the year.
'It is certainly a far cry from my first ever gig which was doing atrocious Metallica covers in the Dollar Scouts Hall with a beaten up mixing desk a few years ago!'
