TILLICOULTRY Primary's head teacher Carol Leddy took part in her final swan song on the last day of term before the holidays.

After 15 years in charge at the school, Carol said a fond farewell to the staff and pupils

This year's Christmas Service was made all the more special with Carol's retiral and she conducted P4-7 pupils in a Christmas Cantata, 'This Infant Boy'.

Carol has been a teacher for 38 years, 30 of which were spent as a headteacher in various schools including Strathyre, Gargunnock, Strathdevon in Dollar, and finally at Tillicoultry.

She told the Advertiser, "I can only say good things about Tillicoultry Primary. I have had a wonderful time here and there is a great school community here.

"I have stayed here for 15 years because the community have been so supportive and also because of the high attainment of the pupils both educationally and in everything else we do in the school, such as shows, lunchtime and after school activities, all the special projects we have done and the support to charities.

"Everything I have done has been a team effort and I couldn't have done it without parents , the staff, the pupils and all the other friends of the school.

"There is a real vibrant and dynamic feeling about the school and it is full of life and fun. I would just like to thank everyone for all their tremendous support and the part they have played in the life of the school.

"People have been so kind and I have been overwhelmed by their kindness and friendliness. I was given a presentation from parents, staff and pupils and I also got a lot of individual presents. I also had a disco night with staff and colleagues, which was a really nice send off."

One of the other passion's in Carol's life is music, something which she worked on with pupils during her time at the school, and she sings with the Edinburgh Festival Chorus and the RSNO Chorus.

She added, "Now I am retired I will be able to devote a bit more of my time to that.

"Music and singing has always been a passion of mine and I have been all over the world with the RSNO, and I am going to the London Proms and to Amsterdam with them."
