A 20-YEAR-OLD woman from Tillicoultry has been tragically killed following a car crash on Saturday night.
Rachael Ward died after her Citroen Saxo was involved in a head on collision on the A908 between Benview and Devonside.
Three cars were involved in the incident, although only two of them collided.
Miss Ward was in the car by herself when it crashed at around 6.30pm with a Vauxhall Astra.
The 27-year-old male driver of the Astra is currently being treated in hospital for serious injuries and his condition is described as stable.
His 17-year-old female passenger has been released from hospital.
The Astra driver has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
The 20-year-old driver of the third vehicle, a Vauxhall Vectra, has been charged in connection with the incident and he was expected to appear at Alloa Sheriff Court this week.
Tillicoultry councillor Bobby McGill, who knows the Ward family, told the Advertiser, "It is just so sad that a young person has lost their life like this.
"It is always tragic when someone dies in a road accident but especially so when they are so young. It is such a waste of a young life.
"I know Rachael's family and Rachael was an only child so for them to lose her like this is absolutely devastating.
"I think the accident happened just at the dip coming to Devonside and it's an area where you can lose sight of what is coming the other way so it's vitally important that people take their time."
The A908 was closed until 2am on Sunday morning to allow Central Scotland Police to carry out an investigation.
In the days since the crash, flowers have been placed by friends of Miss Ward beside the road at the spot where it took place.
Police have appealed for witnesses to contact the Road Policing Unit on 01786 456000.
For funeral details please contact Tommy Roy at Hillview Funeral Services on 01259 725999.
