Twiice are a hit with top musician
A NOTTINGHAM-BASED musician - who runs his own recording studio - believes talented duo Twiice have the potential to become a major name in the music industry.
Tony 'Doggen' Foster (pictured right) returned to Alloa's Glasshouse Loan Music Project to record three tracks with 18-year-old twins Olivia and Lauren Comley.
He initially visited the council-run music project last month, when he heard Twiice performing for the first time. He was so impressed, he was back in the Wee County last week to professionally record some of the girls' songs.
Olivia and Lauren only arrived in Alloa to join the rest of their family at the end of last year after completing their final year at school in their native South Africa.
But in just a short space of time, they've already made a big impression and have attracted interest from some influential producers and representatives of recording companies.
Tony believes the three tracks they have recorded - 'Is this Love?', 'Only You See' and 'You Should Know' - showcase the girls' talents and will attract even greater interest from those in the industry.
Tony, lead guitarist with the band Spiritualized, told the Advertiser, "When I first heard them I was captivated by their music. I love listening to them.
"They are a fantastic talent. There is something special about these girls, the craftsmanship of their songs, the cords and harmonies.
"For them, it's all about their music and that comes across in what they do."
Tony first visited Glasshouse Loan after being invited by his cousin Kevin Brown, a former saxophonist with the Beautiful South, who runs the project.
And they've worked into the wee small hours on the tracks for Twiice.
"We've worked really late into the night on this, but it's something we both love doing," admitted Tony. "We've been really into it and you get a real buzz out of it."
Olivia and Lauren, meanwhile, have been overwhelmed by the way thing have turned out since leaving Johannesburg.
Olivia said, "Coming to Alloa has been amazing and the help we've had from Kevin and Tony, and everyone at Glasshouse Loan has been fantastic.
"For them to give up their time to work so hard to try to make things happen for us has been brilliant. Some people wait for years to get their songs recorded, so we know we've been very fortunate.
"Everything has come together so much quicker than we could ever have expected and we're extremely grateful to everyone who has supported us."
Lauren added, "This is what we've always wanted to do. We love coming up with ideas. It's all about the passion and fun of our music and hopefully things will continue to develop for us."
Twiice recently enjoyed a successful gig at the Tolbooth in Stirling, and are continuing to look for suitable venues to perform their music.
The three tracks recorded by Twiice will be available at their MySpace site www.myspace.com/thinktwiice
