Police insist the latest incidents are unrelated to the recent abduction of a teenage girl in Dollar.

Police are appealing for information on a male motorist who tried to entice two women and a 13-year-old girl into his car in separate incidents.

The first occurred around 1pm on Tuesday 22 June when a 17-year-old woman was approached as she walked along Hilton Road, near to the junction with Springfield Road, in Alloa.

Police say the driver tried to engage her in conversation and drove away when she refused to get into his car.

The second incident took place around 4pm on Wednesday 14 July in Grangemouth when a 39-year-old woman was approached as she walked her dog.

Then on Monday at around 5.30pm, a 13-year-old girl reported suspicious behaviour from a man driving a silver car in Stirling Street, Alva.

Police say the incidents are not linked to the ongoing investigation into the abduction of a 14-year-old girl in Dollar.

Inspector David Mitchell said, "In all instances the car was grey or silver with four doors. The driver was described as being in his 40s or 50s, with short dark hair, possibly shaved. We believe these three instances are linked and we are doing everything we can to trace this person.

"In these cases the women did the right thing in refusing to get into the car. During the course of the second incident we believe the man may have been bitten by a dog. An injury like this may be quite visible and appeal for anyone with information to contact us.

"I also appeal for anyone who may have seen a silver or grey car in these areas around these particular times to come forward."

Anyone with information can contact Central Scotland Police on 01786 456000 or information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
