TIRELESS fundraiser Seamus Corry will be travelling the highways and byways of Central Scotland this weekend to raise funds for Yorkhill Children's Foundation.

Over the past three years Seamus, from Sauchie, has raised over £9000 for the charity and he's hoping his latest recycling drive will add £500 to the figure.

Seamus wants to encourage as many people as possible to part with their old clothes, textiles, duvets and books. Between Friday and Monday (3 to 6 September) Seamus will be driving around the area in a van donated by Fairdrive to pick up people's unwanted items.

Seamus told the Advertiser, "Recycling is a great way for people to help the environment, have a bit of a clear out, and to donate to a worthwhile cause.

"Thousands of pounds are raised from recycling initiatives each year, and I want to encourage as many people as possible to request a bag, and help us to raise funds to support and enhance the care given to sick children and babies throughout Scotland each year.

"The idea is to make it as easy as possible for people to recycle their old textiles, while raising vital funds for an incredibly worthwhile charity."

Recycling bags can be obtained from the Advertiser office on Drysdale Street and Coco on Mill Street in Alloa or the Lindsay and Gilmour Pharmacy, Sauchie - although any bags can be used.

Yorkhill Children's Foundation provides enhanced medical equipment and resources which benefit sick children and babies who are treated at Yorkhill Hospital and within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. These can include innovative medical equipment, improvements in child and family facilities and peadiatric research and training.

Seamus would like to thank George and the team at Fairdrive for donating the van.
