Ex-Dollar Academy pupil is killed in train tragedy
A FORMER Dollar Academy pupil was killed after being hit by a train on New Years Day.
Calum Burt (20), a Natural Science student at Cambridge University, is believed to have been struck by a freight service that was heading through his home village of Culross to Longannet Power Station at around 10am.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said, "BTP officers were called to the line close to Longannet Power Station on Sunday 1 January following the report of a man being struck by a train.
"BTP and Fife Constabulary officers attended the incident, which was reported to police at 10.23am, and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

In Calum's final year at Dollar Academy he won The Colin Sneddon Memorial Prize for Physics and the mathematics award. He was also a gifted violinist.
Dollar Academy rector David Knapman said, "We were deeply saddened to hear of Calum's death. He was an outstanding academic and a talented musician of whom we were very proud.
"Our thoughts are with his family at this terrible time."
Richard Partington, senior tutor at Churchill College, University of Cambridge, added, "Churchill College was shocked and devastated to learn that Calum had been tragically killed on New Year's Day. He was a wonderful person - happy, full of life, focused and immensely talented, with a great future ahead of him.
"He will be terribly missed and our sincerest sympathies go to his family and friends at this dreadful time.
"We will be memorialising Calum in college in due course."
