Fast food chain could bring up to 30 jobs to Alloa
FAST food restaurant KFC could be set to open up a branch in Alloa, bringing with it around 25 new jobs for the area.
A planning application is to be lodged with Clackmannanshire Council seeking permission to establish the eatery on Clackmannan Road.
This would form part of the plans for the vacant land - currently used as an informal carpark - which is next to Alloa recreation park, home of the Wasps.
Permission was sought - and granted by the council in September - by Wasps Property Ltd to allow for a hotel, restaurant and car park to be built on the 9649 square metre site.
Mike Mulraney was extremely positive about the move to bring the restauarant into the area, he said, "As far as we are concerned it's pretty good news that another multi-national company is coming to the area. You have to go to Stirling for a KFC, and it also means a lot of jobs.
"From our point of view the club is very happy and we hope it's successful. It's good that it's one that isn't in Clackmannanshire. As far as we are concerned it's great news and as far as we know it's 25 to 30 jobs."
Discussions are currently underway about the secondary use of the site - talks are taking place with a number of different operators in order to set up a hotel on the grounds.
