THE charity night is in memory of Kevin Mulligan.
A CHARITY night in memory of the late Corporal Kevin Mulligan will take place in Alloa Town Hall on Friday 17 February, with proceeds going to Help for Heroes.
The Alloa paratrooper was tragically killed in Afghanistan in 2009 - at the age of 25 - when a Taliban bomb exploded near his Jackal vehicle.
Since then a close band of his friends and family have organised numerous fundraising events for the charity, which aims to look after wounded servicemen and women returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Alloa Town Hall event is now in its third year, and a sponsored 10K walk, skydive at Strathallan Airfield and charity football matches have all contributed to the thousands raised.
Paul Kelly - the brother of Kevin's fiancee - explained how they began fundraising, "A few of us got together and thought of something we could do that he would have been happy for us to do. And the Help for Heroes had sprung up a few years ago. So a few of us did a sky dive and raised a few thousand for that, we thought of a charity football match and the annual music event."
The event at the town hall boasts of a great line-up from local bands such as Free Guiness, The Fever, Nae Danger and Straight Shooter - DJ Tony Duffy will also be spinning the decks on the night.
Hosting for the evening in the role of compere will be Mike Munro and a 40 inch TV worth nearly £600 will be up for grabs in the raffle.
Paul added, "The previous years have been absolutely superb. We can't thank the Alloa people enough for coming up. It's a charity event - nobody is making any money. Everybody can turn up and have a great night at a great event.
"We're looking to celebrate Kevin, raise money for a charity and hopefully people have a good night and we can give something back that Kevin would have felt strongly about."
Tickets cost £10 and can be purchased from Floral Gems and Peppes, both in Alloa, with the event beginning at 7.30pm.
