A SAUCHIE woman has used her riches to buy rags in the hope of turning rags to riches.

Helen Baillie (47) has opened Glamourrack on Alloa's Shillinghill, selling women's fashion, bags, shoes, purses, make-up and jewellery.

Helen told the Advertiser, "I'm excited about this. Alloa's always been my hometown. It used to be a busy wee town and I want to bring something back."

Helen has went into business with twin sisters Nicola Crossan from Alloa and Laura Kennedy from Tullibody, whom she met whilst working as a carer at Beechwood Park Care Home.

What started off as an idea on a birthday night out led to a Facebook page, house party extravaganza, and now a well-stocked store.

Nicola and Laura will continue to work as staff nurses at the Sauchie nursing home, whilst Helen mans the fort at the shop.

She said, "I've taken a leap of faith with this. I had some savings and went for it, but it's something I've always wanted to do. I'm a typical woman who loves clothes."

The former Park Primary and Lornshill Academy pupil remembers Alloa when it was bustling with shoppers and would like to see those days return.

She added, "I wanted to bring something new to the town. We've got New Look, but not much else. I'm keeping prices reasonable for people, as I know what it's like. It would be great to stop people going into Stirling and keep them in Alloa. We've got a lot to offer."

For more information on Glamourrack, pop into the store at 10 Shillinghill, Alloa, or check out www.facebook.com/nicolalaurahelen.glamourrack.
