REUNITED: Janet Muir, Janet MacSporran, Janice McGregor and Diane Bakker.

A FORMER Tullibody woman who hadn't seen her old school friends in 53 years was thrilled to be reunited with them again.

Janet MacSporran (nee Logan) left Clackmannanshire for Lincolnshire at the age of 14 and in doing so gradually lost touch with her Alloa Grange chums.

In May the 67-year-old - who now lives in Florida - decided to contact the Advertiser in a bid to track them down.

After successfully seeking each other out the old friends decided to meet at Sterling Mills in Tillicoultry for lunch, tales and a good catch-up while Janet was holidaying in the UK.

Janet said, "I was thrilled when, Janet Muir (Todd), from Sauchie, Janice McGregor (Sinclair), Tullibody, and Diane Bakker, (MacNab) from Sauchie came to pick me up take me out to lunch at Sterling.

"We sat and talked, non-stop, for over two hours. I recognized Janet and Janice immediately, and Diane almost immediately."

On meeting it was hugs and compliments all round with Janet saying she "didn't know whether to laugh or cry."

They spent the afternoon reminiscing about the trouble they got into as teens and Janet explained,

"We spoke about the fun we had with the drama club, and the hooting and howling that always seemed to accompany these events from back stage. Old boyfriends and where they are now.

"Janice had a 'year book' that had a poem I had written - still can't remember writing one - and we promised to exchange photos, etc."

She went on, "The thing that most got to me was when the other Janet said, 'you know I pass your old house almost every day and always thought of you and wondered where you had gone and what had happened to you?'"

The conversation covered the years that had spanned in between and Janet said there was a sad side to hearing about some friends and family members who haven't survived.

After exchanging phone numbers and email addresses they have agreed to stay in touch and Janet has extended an invite for her Clackmannanshire-based friends to visit her in America.

And now that contact has been made Janet said she feels "absolutely wonderful".
