Menstrie's Cosmo Girl
Menstrie's Erin McNeill has been nominated for a Cosmopolitan Award.
The 22-year-old is shortlisted within the Ultimate Campaigner category and if she wins she will celebrate at the magazine's annual star-studded event in London at the end of the month.
The brave beauty queen, who recently added a British Red Cross Humanitarian Citizen Award to her collection, suffered horrific burns after a blaze at a friend's house three years ago.
Since the accident, which left her with terrible scars, Erin has dedicated her life to helping educate others about the dangers of fire - and has raised over £70,000 for charities that support the firefighters who saved her life.
She also challenges traditional perceptions of beauty by entering pageants - and has since gone on to win competitions including Miss Scotland International.
Today, Erin admits gaining body confidence is an ongoing struggle.
She said, "I feel insecure every day, but I still walk around wearing sleeveless tops. Not because I'm confident, but because I'm not going to hide from anyone. Nobody should have to hide who they are."
The Cosmopolitan Awards, which commend truly inspirational women, will once again welcome famed Cosmo girl Fearne Cotton as the long-standing host of the evening.
The Radio 1 DJ said, "I'm so happy to be hosting Cosmopolitan's Ultimate Women Awards. I've hosted for six years now, and each time we get to celebrate the most incredible women who have shown earth shattering amounts of courage, love, bravery, and strength. I'm inspired and humbled year on year."
Fearne will be joined on the night by judges Alesha Dixon, Professor Green, Katie Piper, Karren Brady and Kristin Hallenga, who have decided the final winners.
Cosmopolitan's The Ultimate Women of the Year Awards 2012 will take place on Tuesday 30 October at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
