Dollar bridge repairs to last for seven weeks
Clacks Council is set to carry out essential bridge strengthening works on Dollar Bridge, Dollar.
The works started this week on 7 January and are planned to last seven weeks.
In order to safely execute these works, temporary traffic control will be used throughout. Whilst every effort will be made to keep traffic congestion to a minimum, a degree of inconvenience will be inevitable.
Council Leader, Councillor Gary Womersley, said: "The £75,000 contract is part of our ongoing commitment and investment on road improvements within Clackmannanshire. Information signs were erected two weeks in advance of the start date to pre warn motorists of the works.
"Traffic signs will also be in place during the works on the wider road network at both Muckhart and Tillicoultry advising of the works ahead in Dollar, aimed at providing through traffic with the
opportunity to re-route to avoid delays."
At various stages throughout the contract, temporary closures and local diversions will be required on side roads at East and West Burnside. However alternative routes will be signed for local traffic.
The contractor who will carry out these essential repairs on the A91 is Castle Group Scotland Ltd and their emergency contact details will be displayed on site notice boards during the works.
The essential repairs involve the removal of the existing road surfacing, repairs to the bridge structure, re-waterproofing the bridge deck, concrete surround to the bridge arch and reconstructing the road surface.
