A MISSIONARY for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has brought a particular gift with him to Scotland.

Elder Daniel Bradenburg from Drachten Holland (pictured second from the left), serving in Alloa/Stirling, is a grand master in chess who was ranked 16th in his home country before beginning his 24 month mission.

His father began to teach him at eight, he became an international master at a tournament in Cork, Ireland in 2005 before qualifying as a grand master in Lund, Sweden, in 2011.

His success helped pay for his two year service as a missionary and he said, "I am happy to put the board to one side for two years, representing my church makes me happy. I am looking forward to experiencing life on a tight budget and learning how to work harmoniously with my missionary companions."

The Church of the Latter Day Saints meets every Sunday at 10.30am at the chapel on Grange Road, Alloa. Everyone is welcome.
