Bill Robertson, of Sauchie, and Sarah Brown, of Alloa, captured these
magnificent shots as a thrilling four-minute firework display marked the new beginning of 2014.
The Hogmanay event on the castle’s Esplanade, meanwhile, was a rocking success.
Around 5000 revellers attended the outdoor event, which was hosted by Real Radio’s Steve McKenna, headlined by Deacon Blue and included performances from legendary Scottish singer/songwriter Dougie MacLean, the high-energy Bags of Rock and local
favourites Rail Fan.
The performers gathered on stage just before midnight for the traditional countdown to the bells.
At midnight, the good-natured crowd joined in a rousing rendition of Auld Lang Syne, which was co-ordinated with Hogmanay celebrations in Stonehaven, Inverness and Edinburgh.
Elements of the award-winning spectacle were broadcast live on BBC Scotland as part of their Hogmanay Live show. An estimated television audience of around 1.5M people watched the show.
Mark Pauley of management company Zisys Events said, “We were absolutely thrilled with this year’s event. We managed to secure a fantastic line-up that had something for everyone.
“Stirling’s Hogmany 2012 won the “Best Large Event of 2012” prize at the 2013 Scottish Event Awards, and I believe we helped to deliver another award-winning show this year!”
