MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife, Dr Richard Simpson, is backing Amnesty International’s Write for Rights Campaign 2014.

Amnesty’s annual global campaign runs from 1 November to 31 December and highlights human rights abuses taking place around the world while many of us are celebrating the holiday season, with people asked to send a message of solidarity and hope, or to appeal directly to the government in the country where the abuse is taking place.

Dr Simpson has shown his support and wants to help bring attention to the human rights violations that take place.

He said: “Amnesty International shines a light on some of the worst violations of human rights across the world, and this campaign is such a simple way for people to get involved. I would encourage anyone who wants to take part to look at Amnesty’s website for details of the cases they are highlighting, and discover how easy it is to participate.

“At a time of year when many of us are celebrating; we can give back to others just by taking time to write – together we have the potential to make a huge difference.”
