A man has been arrested and charged in relation to a substantial drugs seizure.

On 30 September, officers from Police Scotland stopped a vehicle on the A907 near Stirling services and recovered 50kg of cannabis.

The drugs were valued at around £140,000 and a 55-year-old man was subsequently charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Detectives had been continuing with their enquiries into the source of the cannabis and executed a search warrant at an address in the Motherwell area yesterday (Thursday).

As a result, various pieces of evidence were seized and a 39-year-old male was detained.

He was charged with being concerned in the supply of drugs and is due to appear at Stirling Sheriff Court today.

Detective Chief Inspector Kenny Gray said: "Removing drugs from our communities is a priority for Police Scotland and we continue to gather intelligence from the public on those involved in crimes of this nature.

"The public can rest assured that any information we receive in relation to drugs offences, will be treated with the utmost seriousness and will be acted upon accordingly.

"If you wish to report ongoing criminal activity in your area then please contact Police Scotland on 101 or make an anonymous report via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
