A woman’s body was discovered by a member of public at a piece of wasteland near Stirling Railway Station around 2pm on Monday (19 January).

Police Scotland and British Transport Police began their enquiries in order to establish the identity of the woman, whose death is currently being treated as unexplained.

In a joint statement from Police Scotland and British Transport Police, a spokesperson confirmed on Monday: “This afternoon, (Monday 19 January 2015), the body of a woman was found in the vicinity of Stirling railway station.

“Officers from BTP and Police Scotland are at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to establish her identity and the cause of death.” While the body is yet to be identified, the family of 49-year-old Christine Henley, who went missing two months ago, have been notified of the discovery and they will be kept fully updated over the course of the enquiry.

Christine went missing from the St Ninians area of Stirling and was last seen on Wednesday 26 November.

Police concerned for her wellbeing have maintained their efforts to locate her and made a number of appeals towards the public.
