SIX months on from the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, new research has revealed the most inspirational moments for Clackmannanshire residents.

The opening and closing ceremonies for the event came in first, followed closely by the spirit of the volunteers.

In terms of the top sporting moments, Wee County people were equally inspired by Charlie Flynn winning gold in lightweight boxing, Lynsey Sharp winning silver in the athletics 800m, Erraid Davies winning bronze in para-swimming’s 100m breaststroke, and Euan Burton winning gold in judo.

These outstanding sporting achievements have inspired Scots to get more active and create a personal legacy, with 84 per cent of people surveyed participating in sport since the games, with local people naming swimming and football as their most popular choices.

The research also highlights that 94 per cent of respondents will take small steps towards a more active lifestyle in 2015, with 50 per cent of people from Clackmannanshire committing to trying out a new sport or using their lunch hour to exercise.
