A new one-to-one service is offering support for people on the autism spectrum above the age of 40.

The National Autistic Society (NAS) Scotland’s Person to Person service matches adults with an autism spectrum disorder to a fully-trained volunteer mentor to help them set and achieve specific goals.

Mentoring can take place in person, via email or on the phone, and people from Clackmannanshire are being encouraged to get in touch if they feel they could benefit from the service.

NAS director Jenny Paterson said: “Our team of fantastic volunteer mentors have helped people to take part in social activities, overcome problems at work, and deal with complicated banking and housing issues.

“The great thing about Person to Person is that it is set up to offer advice by phone and email, as well as in person - so we can reach people who need support, wherever they are.

“People from Clackmannanshire who are over the age of 40 and living with autism are very welcome to get in touch if they would like to be matched with a mentor.” Person to Person is also keen to hear from new volunteers who can receive full training with very flexible hours.
