The Valley Renewables Group is holding an open day this Saturday (29 August) at Craigend Farm.

This year’s event will include a free BBQ, energy conservation advice, the latest in renewables and biomass boilers, children’s crafts, paintings, local produce stalls, cakes, ice cream, interesting talks and much more.

The event starts at 12noon and will be on until 4pm. At 1pm, Magnus Paterson will speak about how people can get started with beekeeping, then Moses Jenkins will deliver a talk about insulating traditional stone buildings.

He will be followed by Alison Swanson at 2.30pm, who will speak about ‘How to grow to eat in Stirling’ and last, but not least, will be David Sparkes, who will talk about poultry keeping.

People will also have the chance to learn about the history and heritage of Carron Valley, there will be a butchery demonstration and the Forestry Commission will also be on-site to meet locals.

Look out for sings leading to Craigend Farm near Auchenbowie, please do not park at or go into Craigend House.
