THE arrival of 2014 was particularly special for one Sauchie couple, when they welcomed Clackmannanshire’s first New Year baby.

Born on Thursday 2 January 2014 at 10.06am, little Katie May Morgan came into the world weighing 6lbs 5oz.

Proud parents Stephanie (24) and Edward (52) were over the moon to find out they were expecting, after Stephanie was initially told by a doctor that she had unexplained fertility problems and was given medication to try to help them conceive.

Stephanie, who recently moved to Sauchie from Livingston, said, “We are overjoyed especially after what I was told by the doctor, we’re now settling into a routine and I’m on a bit of a learning curve as she’s my first.

“I always liked the name Katie and my mum’s middle name is May so I thought that sounded lovely. My husband has been great with her and has a little more experience than I do as he already has children so I’m sure we’ll get on just fine.”

The proud couple, who married last year when Stephanie was five months pregnant, praised staff at Forth Valley Royal Hospital’s maternity unit for their “brilliant” care during the birth.
