A SAUCHIE teenager has made it into the finals of the Scotland Teen Queen Pageant.
In competing for the top spot, Brooke Dawson will go head-to-head with nine others at the Bruce Hotel in East Kilbride, on Sunday 29 March.
The 13-year-old was surprised but pleased to secure a place.
She said: “I feel really happy, because there was only 10 spaces I feel quite proud that I was one of those spaces.” Now in its second year, the pageant is for girls aged 11-19 years old and each contestant will compete in five different rounds.
Brooke – who also came in second in the Miss UK Dreams Pageant, in the 13-16 year-old category – has discovered an interest in entering pageants and believes they will help boost her confidence.
The Lornshill Academy pupil explained the appeal: “I like getting ready. I like getting my hair all done up and putting my make-up on, and getting the nice dress and everything.” Mum Zoe is supportive of Brooke’s ambitions and will help her for as long as she wants to compete.
She said: “I’m pleased for her and proud, awfully proud.
“I’m happy for her because that’s what she wants, so as long as she wants to go in for them.”
