THERE was face-painting, a bouncy castle and more at Sauchie Resource Centre at the weekend.

Hundreds of families headed along to the local venue for a fun-filled afternoon on Sunday, April 16.

There was soup and sandwiches, a petting zoo and performances from DJ Kate and Sauchie Community Choir, along with an egg hunt.

The event was organised by Sauchie Community Group and proved popular, with an increase in visitor numbers from the year before.

Craig Miller, Sauchie community manager, said: "The Easter fun day was an enormous success with lots of activities for all the family to participate in.

"It's the hard work of the Sauchie Community Group that should be congratulated, in particular Flo McKenzie, who have worked so hard for putting this event together.

"We are always looking for ways to get activities for the community at low, or no costs."

The group appointed Craig in the new role after receiving funding from the Big Lottery.

He will be supporting the board with its current programme, while looking into new avenues.

He said: "We are looking for new, exciting opportunities to increase activity within the community and will continue to seek out funding to allow us to run large scale events. Our next fun day will take place in June.

"Now that I am full time at Sauchie Community Group I am excited to be looking at more outreach activities and to do this we will be hoping to increase our volunteering opportunities."
