WEE County residents can show some support for guide dogs this weekend.

Gloria Foxton is holding her annual sponsored walk around Gartmorn Dam in Sauchie on Sunday, September 10.

Dig out the walking shoes, or simply pop along to the beauty spot to offer support and a donation – dogs welcome.

The three-hour event will raise money for the Guide Dog George Fund, which will go to the charity Guide Dogs.

The cash will help with the training of guide dogs, as it costs around £55,000 to support one.

The fund was set-up after Gloria, who has been fundraising for around 30 years, lost her dog George.

He passed away around six years ago while still of working age, from bowel cancer, and it was established to remember him.

The aim of Guide Dogs is to provide people with sight loss with support, so they can move around safely and confidently.

It does so through a range of work, including the well-recognised guide dogs.

People can head along to the dam for the event between 1-3pm and Gloria will be there with her guide dog Midge.

Donations can also be made to the fund online, by heading to the fundraising page.
