A WEE COUNTY duo plan to conquer a daunting challenge in memory of their brother, who passed away 27 years ago.

Toni Carroll and Mark Brown will take on a skydive at Strathallan Airfield in support of a cause that is close to their hearts – The Scottish Cot Death Trust.

When their mum Yvonne Millar passed away recently, they decided to do something to honour her.

She lost their brother Dale to cot death a number of years ago, when he was only two months old, but always made an effort to keep his memory alive.

So they set out to organise a fundraiser that would help other families out there.

The sister and brother team are also motivated by their desire to raise awareness of cot death, which takes a baby every nine days in Scotland.

They wanted to do something "from the heart" and to get people speaking about a topic that remains "hidden" for some.

Toni said: "Myself and my brother Mark would like to raise a minimum of £500 for The Scottish Cot Death Trust on behalf of our mother Yvonne, who sadly lost our baby brother through cot death.

"Cot death is such a taboo subject which is very rarely spoken about and families who feel like they can't speak about it, due to it being such a delicate subject.

"My brother Mark was just a toddler when Dale passed away and I wasn't born at this point.

"Our mother always made sure Dale's memory was kept alive and although I didn't get the chance to meet Dale, I have always known I had two older brothers and even got a tattoo in his memory."

The Scottish Cot Death Trust, which was founded in 1985, has three main aims.

It educates the public and health care professionals on cot death, raises funds for research into its causes and works to improve and extend support for bereaved families.

As a charity, it depends on support from individuals and organisations, which is where it gets the majority of its funding.

The charity sky dive will take place on July 14, donate via the GoFundMe page gofundme.com/sky-dive-for-scottish-cot-deathtrus
