A MAN who made his partner fear for her safety by trashing their home will be sentenced next month for the offence.

Christopher Allum appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on Thursday, April 12, after causing his partner to become extremely alarmed just the day before.

Susannah Hutchison, prosecuting, told the court that the pair had been in a relationship for around two and a half years.

Last Wednesday, April 11, Allum attended his partner’s address on Branshill Park, Sauchie, at around 7.30pm and asked to get in but she refused as he was “very drunk”.

On being refused entry Allum became very aggressive with the female and police were contacted.

After police came to the property they spoke to the 26-year-old and the complainer told them she did not want anything further done.

However, the accused came back a couple of hours later with a key and was “visibly angry” and proceeded to smash up the complainer’s bedroom, which a neighbour heard.

Ms Hutchison said: “The accused came downstairs and took his partner’s phone and threw it at the window. The phone smashed, and the window shattered.

"He then went and packed some clothes and said to his partner: ‘You can get to f**k’.”

The prosecutor continued: “The complainer then went to a friend’s house and phoned the police. The accused was arrested, and the damage was about £750.”

Robert Smith, defending Allum, of no fixed abode, told the court that the couple previously had no previous relationship difficulties and that his client simply could not explain why he behaved that way.

Sheriff David Mackie said that sentence would be deferred for the preparation of criminal justice social work reports, adding that Allum must not enter his partner’s property in the meantime.

The case will call again on May 10.
