A YOUNG man from Sauchie decided to retract his guilty pleas after a sheriff warned he might go to prison and should not seek legal advice.

Connor Turner appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday accused of six serious driving charges and told Sheriff Simon Collins that he was representing himself and that he was pleading guilty to everything.

After hearing that the 18-year-old had not even seen a copy of his charges, the sheriff urged Turner to take some time to reconsider if he wanted to represent himself as some of his charges could warrant a custodial sentence.

The charges he is facing relate to October 11 last year when he allegedly drove dangerously at excessive speed without a licence, insurance, a valid MOT certificate and failed to stop after an accident.

After consideration, Turner decided to seek legal advice and the case was continued without plea.

Turner, of Craigbank, will appear again on June 2.
