The third annual Tillicoultry Community Week was a resounding success.

There was a huge range of activities for all ages and people were invited to get involved, have fun and try something new during the event, which aims to foster a greater sense of community within the town.

The packed programme included golf at Tillicoultry Golf Club, make up lessons with Heavenly Beauty, a scone making workshop with Tilly Tearoom, a teddy bear’s picnic, kids’ club, film afternoon, treasure hunt and an introduction to art.

Clackmannanshire Council’s youth services, library services, mental health services and sports development also helped out with various activities.

Reverend Peter Foster of Tillicoultry Baptist Church, chair of the co-ordinating group, said, “We are extremely thankful to so many people who made all of the events of the week possible.

“We hugely appreciate the time, effort and donations that made all of these events possible and free for everyone.

“We are also very grateful to Clackmannanshire Council who hosted a number of events and particularly to the staff of the Ben Cleuch Centre who worked way beyond their normal duties to make the centre a great hub of community week activity.” Within the schedule there were also opportunities to help the community and wider society, with the Give Blood sessions and a litter pick event, and plenty of sporting activities were on offer to keep children and adults active.

Also popular was the Woolpack Inn community quiz, a woodturning demonstration, a history talk and a visit from crime writer Craig Robertson.

The final weekend was a blur of activity with around 1000 people turning out to music event Tilly in the Park, the Scottish Golden Oldies Rugby Tournament, Tillicoultry’s first beer festival courtesy of the Woolpack and more.
