A Tillicoultry bank employee has put in a marathon effort to help her work’s partner charity, Hospice UK.
Gillian Robertson was one of over 120 Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank employees that trekked along 26 miles of the Nidderdale Way and between them raised a staggering £90,000 for Hospice UK.
The expedition in the Yorkshire Dales took up to 12 hours to complete on Friday, September 16. The walk was in an area of outstanding natural beauty and passed some breathtaking scenery including picturesque villages and remarkable reservoirs.
Tracey Bleakley, chief executive at Hospice UK, said: “Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks, and the dedicated staff that work for them, have truly become part of the Hospice UK team over the last eight years. We couldn’t be more grateful for this new marathon effort and all the support the Banks have given us. We simply couldn’t help make sure people get the best end of life care possible without support like theirs.”
Helen Page, propositions and marketing director at Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks, said: “The Marathon Hike was the latest phase in our history of large scale employee fundraising events and we congratulate our team on completing the demanding challenge. The £90,000 raised for Hospice UK will provide our charity partner with vital financial support in delivering its invaluable services.”
Over the eight years the banks have been supporting the charity they have raised over £5 million.
