A VILE Wee County man who filmed himself abusing a 13-year-old girl has been jailed for seven years.

Clifford Warde, groomed one teen, aged 14, before making the despicable video on his phone with the other youngster.

He was arrested earlier this year and last month admitted the sex offences at the High Court in Glasgow.

The 50-year-old then appeared in the dock today, in Edinburgh, and was handed a total of seven years by Lord Boyd.

Warde, said to be from Tillicoultry, was first locked up after the mother of one of his victims intercepted messages he sent to her 14-year-old daughter.

After he was arrested, officers discovered videos on his phone of him sexually abusing the younger girl.

The offences took place on various occasions in Clackmannanshire between November 2014 and March 2016.

Last month, prosecutor Mark McGuire told the High Court that the messages sent to the 14-year-old girl were "too graphic" to read in open court.

Warde, a former foster career, targeted his other victim after she turned 13 and began by texting graphic sexual messages to her.

The court was told that on a number of occasions Warde recorded himself sexually abusing the young girl.

Mr McGuire added: "At no time during this abuse did the accused ever use contraception."

The girl told police she had felt embarrassed about the video recordings being made.

Warde also admitted making arrangements for the 14-year-old girl to travel to meet him with the intention of taking part in unlawful sexual activity.
He pleaded guilty to having sex with the other girl and sending her sexually explicit texts.

On Wednesday, at the High Court in Edinburgh, judge Lord Boyd told Warde that he had no other option but to send him to prison.

Defence advocate Frances Connor told the court that her client had expressed remorse for his actions, adding: "He was very anxious to resolve matters."

Warde's sentence was backdated to August 15, when he was first remanded in custody.

Lord Boyd also placed him on the sex offenders register.

Speaking after the sentencing, Detective Inspector Nigel Thacker said:  “Warde targeted vulnerable young people and today he is being held accountable for his actions.

“These types of incidents are thankfully rare.

“Whenever incidents of child abuse are brought to our attention they are investigated fully by specialist officers who are trained to provide dedicated support.

"We hope that for Warde’s victims this sentence will bring them some form of closure.”
