THE Clackmannanshire Families Support Service Centre in Tullibody received a fresh batch of volunteers recently when workers from Scottish Water pitched in with some gardening and litter-picking.

A handful of workers rolled up their sleeves to help local charity Action for Children around the Newmills site.

Although the weather was unkind, the seven volunteers helped give the grounds a quick sprucing up.

Gareth Lewis, a senior business support officer at Action for Children in Clackmannanshire, said: “We were delighted to receive this help from the Scottish Water workers, who visited our service and volunteered their time to tidy up our garden area in Tullibody.

“Their hard work, despite the challenging weather conditions, was much appreciated. The garden looks great and we would like to say a very big thank you to them.” Fiona Burley, Scottish Water’s volunteering programme co-ordinator, added: “We were very pleased to be able to help with this important work to tidy up the garden and grounds of the Action for Children centre.” Action for Children supports vulnerable children and young people across the UK and the Clackmannanshire Families Support Service is located in a purpose built centre in Newmills.

It offers a range of services to families with a child or children under the age of five from birth and occasionally pre-birth.

They are a referred only service and offer individual packages of support, parenting/family assessments, parent/carer and Child Play Together sessions, along with parents and carers groups and supporting crèches.
