PUPILS at St Bernadette's Primary School have helped raised thousands for charity throughout Lent.

The P6/7 classes led the events, raising more than £1800 through a range of activities.

And with the Scottish Government pledging to match their total, the final sum raised came to £3684.34.

Among the events organised was a Wear Your Uniform Back to Front day, a Dress Up as Your Favourite Book Character day, and a Walk a Mile for Sciaf – events which the whole school and some parents took part in.

On Monday, April 25, Kathleen McGrath from Sciaf was presented with a cheque for £1843.17 from the P6/7 children at the Tullibody school.

Mrs McGrath was overcome with the generosity of our pupils and parents in raising this fantastic amount for a school with only 112.

Headteacher Mrs McElroy said: "The St. Bernadette's community has always been generous but this year's fundraising has exceeded all expectations particularly when you consider that the Scottish Government will double our total, taking it to £3684.34. Our children and their families, led by P6/7, have made a real difference in the lives of many people."
