A TULLIBODY couple are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary today.

Alex, 82, and Rita, 78, McLuckie tied the knot at St Serf's Church on September 12 1956 and are still happily married five children, 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and 60 years later.

The couple met at the former Mayfair Dance Hall in Alloa the year before they got married. Alex was in the army and Rita, nee Richard, was working in Paton's Mill.

Their best memories together include their wedding day and having children.

As for the secret to a long marriage – Rita said: “We must have been doing something right, it lasted 60 years”, with Alex, who was deployed in Egypt during the Suez Canal Crisis, adding: “If you let the wife think she's the boss, that helps.”

Celebrating with their children, the couple enjoyed a lovely meal, a drink and blether at Inglewood House and are planning a big family get-together, including all the bairns, in a fortnight.
