TWO Tullibody fundraisers took on more than 20 miles for charity at the weekend.

Janice Muir and Connie Henderson laced up their trainers for the Kiltwalk on Sunday, April 30.

The 'Soul Sistas' took on The Mighty Stride during the annul event – a feat which saw them walk 23 miles across the city.

The challenge – which they signed up for to raise money for Play Alloa – started off at Glasgow Green and finished at Moss O Balloch Park.

Janice said: "We had a great time – I'm signing up again for next year.

"It was hard and both of us were exhausted at the end. We both met our targets for fundraising so we are very pleased.

"It is a lovely day and if you enjoy walking it is worthwhile doing it – it was the largest Kiltwalk with over 7000 taking part."

Janice, 43, and Connie, 19, originally met through Tullibody, Cambus and Glenochil Community Council's events team, which they are both part of.

It was a shared desire to get fitter and raise money for a good cause which led them to enter the charity walk.

In anticipation of the mileage, they had been training since February and would regularly trek from Tullibody to Causewayhead and up around Wallace Monument.

Janice, who is secretary on the community council, and Connie, a co-opted member, decided to raise money for Play Alloa as it's a "great service".

The Clackmannanshire based charity is a provider of play and social opportunities for children and adults with disabilities and additional support needs.
